Billy jack12/31/2023 =) (amazing how cynical we've become isn't it?) While most of America in those days was more like the townspeople than the school people, it is still very very entertaining to see those days played out again. The comedy troupes used to appear on shows like the Smothers Brothers and were considered "way out". The little blonde girl singing the anti-war song is Tom and Delores' real life daughter Theresa. It is composed and conducted by jazz guitarist Mundell Lowe, and the veteran borrows heavily from Jerry Goldsmith. Its really not bad taken in that context. A former Green Beret fights to protect a school for runaways in the desert. The music to the first big independent film produced decades before The Blair Witch Project and My Big Fat Greek Wedding is a strange and striking combination of styles that somehow is effective. Billy Jack also does not like the locals hunting on Indian grounds. It is basically a school that teaches 'hippie' ideals. It was independently produced by a guy (Laughlin) who believed in his message, wrote it and called all the shots himself. In this movie, Billy Jack is at odds with local townsfolk over a school for children that are taught in an unorthodox manner. To insist it be more than that is unrealistic. After Billy Jack in sentenced to four years in prison for the 'involuntary manslaughter' of the first film, the Freedom School expands and flourishes under the guidance of Jean Roberts. With Tom Laughlin, Delores Taylor, Victor Izay, Teresa Kelly. =)And yes, people really did say things like: "Damn hippies! They oughtta get their hair cut! they're ruining the country!!" The New Left movement which really became influential around 1972 and years following was the hippie fringe in 69. The Trial of Billy Jack: Directed by Tom Laughlin. You really had to live through these days to appreciate the fact that some people really did think and act like the actors in this film. While all hippies were certainly NOT non-violent, this film earnestly tries to present an enlightened message to an adult audience that at that time was not the most socially aware in the world. He settled for having the character star in a. Kudos to Laughlin's hard work on making this low-budget, independent film a success because it is shot very well, has some well done action scenes (even though they're sparse), and it makes use of a soundtrack that compliments the film's visuals, characters, and message. This movie takes me back to 1969 (when it was first started) Also: note the high school football schedule for 1969 on the ice cream shop door with the school name marked out to preserve its anonymity). Tom Laughlin wrote the story of Billy Jack more than a decade before the first movie but could not get it made. Billy Jack is a series of action films written, directed, produced by, and starring Tom Laughlin, who plays the titular character Billy Jack, a half-Indian. It is definitely a period piece film (a good one at that) and the political talk remains relevant today. The discussions made me want to participate alongside the youths to thwart against, not the conservatives, but the awful, **** things the police forces and two other numb-nut characters do to the innocent during this film. Some may not like the heavy dialogue exchanges, but the topic at hand here is both interesting and controversial. He started wrestling as 'Billy Jack' in the Pacific Northwest territory but had to change his name when Tom Laughlin (who starred in. Before Sul Ross, Ray served as tight ends coach at. He trained in Stu Hart s Dungeon pro wrestling school and briefly wrestled in Harts Stampede Wrestling under his given name, forming a tag team with Bruce Hart. Billy Jack Ray enters his third season as the volunteer assistant offensive line / tight ends coach. The discussions made me want to participate alongside the youths to thwart "Billy Jack" acts less like an action hero and more like a symbol of justice for the extremist left. Haynes started wrestling in 1982 at the age of 28. "Billy Jack" acts less like an action hero and more like a symbol of justice for the extremist left.

Paypal key12/30/2023 I have 50 products and everything works fine. My old site uses legacy PayPal buttons - Buy Now, and Add to Cart. My old web site is still active while I am building my new Sparkle web site. Anyone with ideas, please post here and thanks in advance! Gotta be in there somewhere, but I haven’t seen it yet. (My artist sells prints of various sizes.) I have yet to see how/where you can do that in these new mobile-friendly buttons. Thought #2: In the old-style PayPal buttons, you could create a drop down menu for different sizes and prices of a product. I know I can go into PayPal and make a whole new app for each individual product on the site but that seems like overkill to me (as in too much work there’s got to be a simpler way.) I’d like to title each button appropriately. There’s no way in Sparkle to name a button to tell what is being sold…is there? I am building a site for an artist now to sell lots of her paintings and prints. One more thing about these buttons, as I think about them. And once I got the proper Client ID from PayPal and entered it into the PAYMENTS field in the Sparkle settings, Sparkle makes it a piece of cake to add buttons to a page…much faster and easier than the clunky old copy and paste PayPal button code into an “embed” box on your Sparkle page procedure. Meanwhile, one of my wishes is for PayPal to greatly simplify the process of creating mobile-friendly buttons. You should not have to become a PayPal Developer and stare cross-eyed at code you don’t end up needing, just to make a button!įYI: here’s what the buttons look like…they really are much better looking and better functioning for mobile. When the dust settles, I will have to sit down and write a step by step tutorial on how to plow through this. To be honest, I’m not entirely sure of how I got this going but am gonna have to do it again as I make more buttons to sell more products for my client. That said, it was for me a healthy learning experience in the long run. Not for the faint of heart or mind, believe me. It is not the bank advertiser’s responsibility to ensure all posts and/or questions are answered.Oh yeah! It took me several days to get one of the new mobile-friendly PayPal buttons working. It’s sad that PayPal Key is not long for this world, but at least PayPal has given us all a heads up that we have four weeks left to use it rather than simply shutting it down with no notice.Īdvertiser Disclosure: FrequentMiler is an independent, advertising-supported web site. Seeing as PayPal Key functions as a debit card, you could prefund your Slide balance using PPK to earn 2% cashback without having to forgo credit card rewards. 1% is offered for prefunding via credit card and 2% is given when prefunding by debit card. For example, the Slide app offers an additional 1%-2% cashback when prefunding your account. There have been various uses for it that have proven to be beneficial for people. That’s not to say that PayPal Key was no longer fit for purpose. Others were able to set one up but subsequently had issues when using it they deleted that Key to set up a new one, but weren’t able to get a new Key. Some people were unable to set up a PayPal Key in the first place. There were occasionally other issues too. Federal tax payment processors didn’t like that either, so towards the end of 2020 that option was ixnayed too. For someone paying a $5,000 tax bill, paying a $2.50 fee rather than ~$95 was a no-brainer seeing as you’d still earn the same credit card rewards. Paying taxes by credit card comes with a ~1.9% fee, whereas debit card payments have a flat ~$2.50 fee. American Express wasn’t a big fan of PayPal Key either, so a few weeks after Plastiq stopped accepting it as a payment method, Amex stopped allowing you to use American Express cards as the backing card for all PPK payments.Īnother popular use case in the early days was paying Federal taxes. Viveza latina12/30/2023 Our five Hermanas still yearned for something more something that would celebrate and unify Latinas, something that would consolidate their collective strengths and allow them to give back to their communities in a tangible way, something that would allow women to remain connected and support one another throughout their lives, even after they had left campus.īut traditional sororities-the elitism, the hazing, the frivelousness-did not appeal to them. But while it provided a supportive space, it was fleeting, filling the need for the moment but not a permanent piece of their lives that they would carry with them after they left. Out of this need, a discussion and support group La Organizacion de Latinas Universitarias (LOLU) was started. The longer they were on campus, the more they realized how crucial and necessary having another option was. “We each felt a need to find a place where we would be valued for our brains, our commitment to the Latino inner city communities we came from, and the belief that as women we could stand on our own two feet, independent, strong, not willing to take no for an answer,” Esencia says.ĭuring this time, each of our founders desired something more than the options they were given: they could either join a traditionally Anglo sorority or pledge a historically African American sorority. On the surface they were different, but they had something important in common. In 1986, on this sprawling campus in centrally isolated Western NY five Latinas lives intersected- Eva Marie Sosa-Grandison, Viveza Maria Caban, Sayan Patricia Rivera, Nipin Irma Almirall-Padamsee, Esencia Migdalia Franklin, Raiza. When Hispanic women were literally the new kids on the block and people just didn’t get why they wouldn’t pick a side of the race/culture spectrum. This was Cornell University in the 1980s. With each woman that leaves, you lose another friendship not out of maliciousness but simply the passage of time and no real thread to keep you connected, no reason for them to reach back and remain in your life or you in theirs. Diplomas bought freedom, freedom bore forgetfulness. Now imagine seeing these same women who you spent years working, studying, bonding with, suddenly disappear. Not because they didn’t deserve it, but because of their gender. Imagine seeing others like you give and nurture and support and work and lead but never be acknowledged, respected or appreciated. By professors, administrators, officials, peers and colleagues, some of them just like you or close enough to be. Imagine carrying the expectations of your family, your friends, your neighborhood, on your back because you were the first to accomplish something others around you did not: going away to college. But in reality, you were one, or the other, neither, or both. A place where your color or last name and how you spoke it, put you in one category – either black or white. Judging by the reaction of the crowd, I did a pretty good job. I strayed away from the typical pamphlet/brochure/website spiel and instead simply spoke from the heart in a way to somehow convey the essence of how and why our Hermandad was founded. I couldn't have been prouder (or more nervous) to do so. As a result, I was asked to give a speech at one of our chapter's last night about our organization's genesis. I also happen to sit on our National History Committee. I joined during college and am still an active member today. If that wasn’t enough, there are four Sonic Mania Plus bonus tracks included, along side all three Hyper Potions tracks constituting Friends and both versions of Time Trails including the version with Crush 40’s Jun Senoue on guitar. The Japanese Sonic Mania website details the full 54 track double CD, which not only includes all of the songs that appeared on the Data Discs’ Sonic Mania album release (which contained all of the original tracks in the game and will be back in stock for the launch of Plus), it also holds all of the “re-imagined” classic stage songs. If you’ve always wanted to blast the Sonic Mania Soundtrack from your car stereo, you’re going to want to look into investing in the Japanese release of Sonic Mania Plus, which along with all of the perks of the western release will be packaged with a double CD album! You can also check out his YouTube channel which also contains a number of interesting finds and discoveries. His Reddit thread details the discovery and includes a few additional details. Some of these codes combine to make interesting effects, for example, if you enable Force Encore Mode and Max Control For Sonic, it’s possible to give the Super Peel Out move to Knuckles and other characters.Įdit: The person who originally made this discovery has been revealed to be modder CodenameGamma. 9 0 0 1 – Max Control For Sonic (Dropdash, Super Peel Out, Insta-Shield).2 0 1 7 0 8 1 5 – Super Sonic Flight in normal levels (Don’t need to be Super to trigger it).3 3 3 1 9 7 9 0 8 1 1 – Changes all animals into Squirrels.Go to sound test and play the following sounds to enable the desired code. You now need to enter the code for the level select. To enable the codes, you need to do the following. But now fans have discovered that the game also includes cheat codes! Yes actual cheat codes, remember them? We used to have them before DLC became a thing.Ī series of cheat codes have been discovered which work across all versions of the game, we’re unsure if you need the full plus DLC to get these to work or if they will work on a fully patched vanilla version of Sonic Mania, so give it a try anyway.įrom what we understand, they do not work on Encore mode, and some codes only work for Sonic. After all Mania is something couldn't be imagined years ago, but it came and it delivered.Sonic Mania Plus continues to surprise players in many ways with small references and nods. But it'd be rad to have something I can't imagine. I don't expect anything else, giving how the game is designed. After all coop in Sonic series was always 'girlfriend' mode, so second player can help and do stuff, but can't ruin anything (mostly, ffs auto-grabbing in StH3 could ruin relationships). But I'm sure there won't be split screen for coop since from level design and progression it doesn't make much sense, so no interactivity needed. Technically you can get a meme mode through in-game cheats (which adds Knuckles as second player, even if you select Knuckles), and you can add any char as second one through debug menu. They just expanded it to include up to 4 players.Ĭooperative mode will still be 2p only and will play on shared screen just like Sonic 3 - select Sonic+Tails and second player can control Tails and fly a bit. See, Mania already has split screen mode for 2 players, which plays identically to STH2 from Genesis. It only has 'teleporter' TV box for swap positions between players. Where to watch dino squad12/30/2023 The team travels to Indiana for its next game, then hosts an undefeated Penn State team and Michigan State. The Wolverines passed their first two bigger tests of the season, beating Maryland at home and then going on the road to beat Iowa at Kinnick Stadium. What's next: at Indiana (Saturday, noon ET) The Spartans gave up 314 yards passing and 175 yards on the ground against Maryland, so Ohio State's offense should be in for another big day. Ohio State now faces a struggling Michigan State team that has lost its past three games. The Buckeyes have shown their balance on offense, passing when they need to and getting a school-record-tying performance on the ground from Miyan Williams, who had five touchdowns against Rutgers. What's next: at Michigan State (Saturday, 4 p.m. They have back-to-back home games against Auburn and Vanderbilt. Some of the sloppiness the Dawgs have exhibited the past two weeks may catch up to them, although the schedule the next couple of weeks doesn't look too demanding. Georgia played just well enough to win Saturday in rallying past Missouri for a 26-22 victory. But Smart wants to see his Dawgs playing cleaner football with fewer mistakes and finishing drives on offense. ET)Ĭoach Kirby Smart is never going to apologize for a win, especially a road win in the SEC. What's next: at Auburn (Saturday, 7:30 p.m. With Texas A&M coming to town this week, a healthy Young would go a long way toward avenging last season's loss in College Station. And while Jalen Milroe acquitted himself well in Young's absence, the fact that Young returned in full uniform and not in a sling or in street clothes was promising. The shoulder injury - and Young's reaction to it - didn't look good. The Crimson Tide's championship hopes were nearly dashed when he left the field in the second quarter against Arkansas. ET)Īll eyes will be on Bryce Young's shoulder this week. Nick Saban's Alabama squad is 5-0 entering its Week 6 matchup with Texas A&M. Meanwhile, Kentucky's undefeated season ended at the hands of Ole Miss Oklahoma and Texas A&M lost road games to then-unranked conference foes and Kansas, TCU and Syracuse are all still undefeated.īut what happens from here? We break down what's next for each ranked team. Clemson beat a ranked ACC foe for the second straight week. Alabama lost Bryce Young in the second quarter but still beat a ranked Arkansas team by 23. Georgia trailed by 13 points in the second half but used a late touchdown drive to rally past unranked Missouri. The AP Top 25 college football poll is out after another wild weekend of games. Convert affinity publisher to indesign12/30/2023 I did try putting the pdf into a InDesign document and it went without any problems. It does have multiply settings I can play with including color profiles.Ĭould try other pdf presets included like PDX/4 to see if that works. I'm thinking a color setting in the creation of the pdf needs changed when making the pdf in Affinity Publisher. Gives a "Color conversion is required to defione the output colorants for file." I tried through our Prienergy and it fails. I receive only PDF files so having the fonts available to open is not possible 99.9% of the time.Ĭan one of you put up a good (not rasterized) PDF file here that hopefully has text with fonts and images and that has been created in IP so I can see if Prinergy has any issues with it? Other than that is a pretty good free version if anyone wants to never use postscript fonts. It just seemed to ignore postscript fonts. It seems it only works with True Type and Open Type Fonts. I actually installed that last week to test it out since Linotype Font Explorer (old free version) causes a lot of issues in Mac OS Mojave. Photoshop is so slow compared to Affinity Photo. That explains why in StudioLink, you can edit photos and vectors right inside Publisher without leaving the app.īottom line in my opinion, if Serif can bring packaging and data merge features to Publisher, they have a very good chance to give Adobe a run for its money.Īnd if there are working on making it possible to open IDML files in Publisher, I know plenty of clients who would switch.īTW, I been using Affinity Photo for two months, haven't missed Photoshop one bit. Only difference is the extensions which tell which application the file was created in. Hopefully they will offer that option before you open the pdf with Affinity Publisher in future update.Īlso, interesting fact is that the Affinity applications are all the same under the hood. Then you have to replace the pdf ad with the pdf file (that is if you have it). You have to go into the Document Setup and change Image Placement Policy to Linked Preferred. The Font Manager will show a whole list of missing fonts!Īfter playing with it, I found the solution. The problem is that if you do not have the fonts, you are screwed. When I open the document (pdf), if there are any pdfs in the document, the pdfs become editable as if you open them into Adobe Illustrator. As i mention, there is no packaging feature or data merge feature.īut those features will be added in future update. If you don't choose the text flow option, it is easy to relink the text boxes with the frame text tool.Ĭlick on first text frame (little triangle in lower right corner of the frame) and then click on the text frame you want to like to.īUT, Affinity Publisher is not perfect. Even line endings so far seem okay.Īs for photos, they are of course embedded but you can link them to original file. I found that everything opens up almost perfectly. Then open the pdf with Affinity Publisher. Make sure you have the fonts loaded first. I doubt it but I have found a run around to getting InDesign files into Affinity Publisher.įirst you need to make a pdf (press quality) with bleeds if there are any, and no crop marks. I read briefly that possibly they are working on the ability to open InDesign IDML files. Better than Adobe Stock where you have to buy images. The free stock images from Pixabay, Pexels and Unsplash is really nice. These missing features are in the works and will come in a update.Īlso, I love how fast it is! And I like the simple interface too.Īnd I love the StudioLink feature. It does most of what InDesign does minus a few things like data merge, scripts, and packaging files.
